Coming This Winter: Frigate Logistics and (another) BIG Profit Opportunity

According to a new Dev Post on the EVE Online Forums CCP will be changing the now useless Mining Frigates to Logistics Frigates. This is very exciting from a PVP perspective because it completely changes Frigate PVP and lifts the option of Frigate Fleets from a Novelty to potentially a valid combat strategy.

But this article isn't about PVP, it's about the fact that this change will be so exciting to PVPers that they will all rush to buy these Frigates when the Winter Expansion is released. THAT MEANS PROFIT!!!

This is another chance for all of you to make a ton of very easy ISK with almost zero Risk...

How much?

Well, lets look at what happened to the Slasher leading up to it's recent change.

Had you bought Slashers when I told you about the upcoming changes on June 29th you would have paid around 80-100k ISK Each. Then you would have sold for around 400k-450k on patch day and the days after. That's over 400% return on your ISK, meaning 1 billion just turned into 4 billion with almost ZERO RISK and ZERO EFFORT!

What's interesting about this is that the changes to the Slasher (while interesting and possibly the topic of a future post about why they may displace interceptors to the point of being unused and thus require an inty buff) are not nearly as exciting as the new Logistics Frigates.

So while I think ALOT of market traders are going to pile into this trade, it will still likely produce an easy 300% orΒ  more ROI for those who act now.

Let's look at the changes in a little more detail...

As expected Gallente and Amarr are going to be Armor Reppers and Caldari and Minmatar will be Shield Repping Logistics. This means that the roles will most likely be very similar to the current roles we see in logistics.

Minmatar's Frigate Logistic ship, the Burst is the fastest of all the new logi ships, it's hit points favor shields, and the slot layout would suggest a fit similar to a Scimitar. The big question is how it will get capacitor. From a Small Capacitor Booster or a Passive Recharge like most people use on the Scimitar. Either way it will most likely use it's speed to stay at range from the fight and will likely be the most used for "Fast" shield frigate fleets.

Gallente's Logistics Frigate is the Navitas and the stats are a little different from what you would expect. It's pretty fast and agile for a armor ship. The Hit Points favor Armor, but the slot layout leaves alot of options. Honestly, I can't decide how I would fit it but I would lean toward it being a fast armor logistics.

Caldari get's the Bantam for it's Logi Frigate. I still struggle to associate the Bantam with anything but a laughable mining frigate, but I'll try. First off, it's slow and tanky, meaning that this will almost certainly be used in a Dual or Team Logistics scenario where it's survival will depend on other Bantams. The base Shield HP of 500 is the best of all the new Logi Frigs and the Bantam is the only Logi Frig with 4 mid slots. That means heavy tanked, slow moving logi teams. I see good potential for Bantam teams being paired with Harpy, Hawk, and Jaguar Fleets. For that reason and also because Caldari is the most common race, the Bantam should be in high demand.

Amarr's Inquisitor is pretty much a mini Guardian. Lots of Armor HP, 4 low slots, and the strongest base cap of all the new Logistics Frigates mean that you will be seeing alot of Dual / Team Inquisitor Fleets being paired with the likes of the Wolf, Vengeance, Retribution, Ishkur, and Enyo. Armor Buffer Mega Tanks that will be virtually impossible to kill unless prepared for them. The counter? Destroyers, Snipers, and lots of Ewar (ECM Burst?). Demand for these will be high.

So which ones are the best investment?

As you can see the Bantam and Burst appear to be the best bets here, however I wouldn't rule out the Inquisitor. They will all likely be profitable, however the Bantam and Burst are the Logistics Frigates with more "upside" potential.
