Feature Request: Every Sov Null Region has Dockable Stations

Dear CCP Fozzie,

I am a solo pilot that enjoys terrorizing Sov Bears in deep null sec. Since the motto of EVE is "you are never safe" I take great pride in killing Sov Bears who think they can hide on the edges of the universe.

However, I have noticed there is a limitation to my homicidal urges. When I find my self in need of ammo, new ships, repairs, or just a place to go afk for a few minutes while I grab a beer, I am confronted by the fact that the Sov Bears I have been killing won't allow me to dock at their stations.

I believe this is not an intended game mechanic because it allows what should be the most dangerous space in the game to be... Safe.

I'm sure you feel like I do and would like to see more of these people punished, so I have a few ideas I would like to share with you.

The easiest would be to remove the mechanic that disallows docking from stations. Taxing docking pilots and taxing services within reason (max 10 Million ISK) is fine but docking should never be restricted.

The next option would be to add NPC Null to every region in the game. Even just one system with a station that has all the services. This would allow small gang corps and solo pilots to operate more easily.

The end effect of both of these options is more conflict and more danger. Basically, a better game.

Thank you for your consideration,

Abbadon21

P.S. I will be in Vegas if you would like to discuss more ways we can make the Sov Bears pay for their crimes. Perhaps we can even round them up in Vegas and force them to watch Brittany Spears Live? or is that going to far?

  • With all due respect, this is a dumb idea.
You want stations, already have low sec for that. The point of null is player owned space. To give you free access to that without any of the associated risk and effort to build those stations and hold that sov defeats the entire purpose of null. You are literally asking for nullsec to be lowsec without the gate guns.
The implications of opening up all stations for free docking would mean that corps could move into someones space and never be evicted while not putting any effort into capturing, building and owning that space (the whole point of null and what makes it different from high and low sec).
If you want to raid null you can:
    - Just roam as normal, you don't need a station.
    - Base out of existing npc null there is plenty of that
    - Have an alt in a cloaky transport with your stuff (or hey why not a carrier or super, you can have a whole hanger full of fit ships).
    - Want to have a beer, use a mobile depot and fit a cloak.
    - Set up a small pos and use that as a base ( in a wormhole with a null exit for new daily locations).
    - Take friends, use blackops.
There are a whole bunch of options available that do not involve CCP changing the game to suit your soloness.

    • Taxes would be a disincentive to staying for long periods because you would make the Sov Holder rich. Eviction would work they way it does in Null NPC, you demoralize your enemy through defeats and harassment. The Conflict generated make it more interesting.

I personally think that the more conflict you have in the Game the better. I also think that Sov should not equal safety. It should be high risk and high reward.

The upcoming Citadels have the potential to solve this problem but that depends on whether or not CCP restricts anchoring in someone elses Sov.

However as a solo pilot I tend to cover vast amounts of space in a roam. Sometimes going from one end of the universe to the other. Placing Citadels or POS towers is not a good solution for me.

A following Carrier with a cloak would be pretty sweet but the effort to do that and cyno jamming systems would make that a pain, as well as being outside the reach of most players.

My view however is skewed toward PVP since it's what I enjoy most.

  • Yeah i'm sorry my post was pretty crappy but I am just looking at the bigger picture of what null is about. Having everyone access your player station will lead to all sorts of unintended issues.
I do understand where you are coming from though. I'm a member of the CFC and with all these changes our space is so safe that everyone is ratting in carriers and don't even warp out of anons when hostiles enter as they are all in one big fleet (shouts to JU standing fleet). If you try to gank one you will get dropped on by all sorts of crazy including titans and supers. This is I guess somewhat unintended changes brought about due to changes in power projection.
I used to hobo it around with an alt in a carrier as my mini base prior to the jump fatigue changes, funny enough it was quite rare to be thwarted by cyno jammed systems as they are as much a pain for the owners as the attackers. But yes it is outside the scope of the general player I guess (a pity because it is a good way to roll & the risk factor of cynos and remote hostile space without backup makes it exciting when first setting up).
Personally I think the answer lies in mobile structures, mini pos type thing perhaps. I do like the idea of hobo bases, back many moons prior to goons I used to live out of cans in deep safe spots in great wildlands. They were good times.
