Taranis PVP Fit Update – More HP and Easier Fitting

It's update time here at EVE Pro Guides again and I am going through the guides and my PVP footage to add new Updated Fittings, Videos Guides, and Tactics.

My first update was to The Shield Boosting Guide, which included Dual XLASB Raven, Gila, Moa, and Vagabond footage and fittings.

Next up is a very big update to The Frigate PRO Guide. The Frigate PRO Guide Updates will include a new Dramiel Guide, More Taranis Footage (my favorite solo ship still to this day), and some footage from my secret PVP alt character with the Comet and Taranis.

Expect to see more about these updates in the next few days, as well as a possible announcement about something else I've been working on, but until then let's start with the New Taranis Fitting I have created...

If you have the Frigate PRO Guide you know how flexible and powerful the Taranis is. It's immune to bubbles and travels incredibly fast through jumps to cover very large areas quickly. This means you can out run Intel and catch people by surprise. But it's not just that, you can also find fights faster.

My old Taranis fit was very standard and well known among top level PVPers. It's still a great fit if used properly, but recent changes to the game have opened up some new possibilities.

1. Tech 2 Rigs for frigates have come WAYYYY down in price. A tech 2 Hybrid Burst Aerator has dropped to only 1.5 Million ISK! A big drop from the earlier 8+ million ISK.

2. A few expansions ago CCP added more modules and rigs for Hull Tanking. Yes, the Taranis is a Hull Tank and these modules allow you to maximize that. The Tech 2 Small Transverse Bulkhead runs around 2 million ISK and will give you very nice boost in HP.

Add to this two very cheap implants, the SH-603 and MC-803 (the SS-901 is also super cheap and nice to add). These will set you back around 2 or 3 million ISK depending on where you buy them and they will give you 3% more Hull HP and 3% more Small Hybrid Damage.

Now for the comparison...

The Old Standard Taranis PVP Fit:

[Taranis, Dual Prop]
Damage Control II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Micro Auxiliary Power Core II

1MN Afterburner II
Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I

Light Neutron Blaster II, Null S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Null S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Null S
[empty high slot]

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I

Acolyte II x2

New Dual Prop PVP Taranis Fit:

[Taranis, Dual Prop New]
Damage Control II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I

1MN Afterburner II
Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I

Light Neutron Blaster II, Null S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Null S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Null S
[empty high slot]

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator II
Small Transverse Bulkhead II

Acolyte II x2

As you can see the new Fitting adds over 500 hp at a cost of only 5 DPS output and maybe 1 or 2 million more ISK. That's a roughly 15% increase in EHP and a 2% decrease in Damage Output. A pretty good trade in my book.

Of course there are other fittings for the Taranis, but since this is my all time favorite, it deserved an article all to it's self.

  • Fun little fit! I'd been experimenting with your Taranis Dual Prop fit in EFT an getting ready to modify my Taranises to give it a live trial, but the hull fit looks very promising and I think I'll give it a whirl. That said, I am really looking forward to any new footage and updates for the Stabber/SFI guide since I've been flying a TON of them lately thanks to your guide.

    • I have some unreleased SFI footage I haven't posted yet... I will try to get to that after the Frigate Guide. The SFI is a ton of fun and the T1 Stabber has good misdirection which is huge.

  • Nice fit, looking forward to the updates to the fig pro guide and SFI guides, having purchased both about 2 years ago... Any planned updates to the wolf guide? I purchased that one as well, matter of fact that was my first guide purchased.

    • No planned updates for the wolf guide just yet, but it's something I will look at once I get some of my current projects done.

      • Maybe it would be easier just to whip something up and consolidate it into the frig pro guide....hmmm

    • Your main targets are other interceptors and frigates. Just check out the Inty Guide inside the Frigate PRO Guide it shows which ships to fight and how to fight them. Also a update video for the Taranis is coming very soon.

  • Would suggest updating this fitting from using the Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I (now 5MN Y-T8 Compact Microwarpdrive) to the 5MN Quad LiF Restrained Microwarpdrive instead.

It's a tighter fit with the change, but costs less / has less sig...
