Setting Up Your Overview

Imagine flying your ship with no Overview...

Important things like Range, Speed, Ship Types, and many other things would be difficult and slow to figure out.

The Overview gives you information you need to make desicions and fly your ship. The more information you can get from it, and the more efficiently you can process that information the better off you'll be.

In this video you'll learn what information you need on your overview, how to set it up, about using tabs, and a lot more.

  • Great tutorial, thank you very much. One tip I have for you: If you want to select every ship inside the 'Ship' folder, you don't have to go and select them one by one; simply right click the 'Ship' folder and press 'Select All'.

    • Glad you like it and great tip... You can also hit "Ctrl-A" and I think it will select everything.

  • when selecting types you can check or uncheck everything in a folder by right clicking on it

    • OHHH.... Very cool!

I misunderstood the first time. I've always gone through and checked each one.

Thanks for that Karl and Vlad

  • funny it made your overview automatic.... per client... when i made my alt i had to import my overview from a file i exported before...

  • Do you have a written guide with the specific selections you chose for each of the tabs? I think you show specifically drones and such, but not sure if I missed some when you went through a few of them in the beginning (i.e., Nav & Scan ).

    Thanks!

    • No I don't have a written guide, just the video. I can't say my Overview setup is optimial, it's just what I like.

PVP is all non blue, non fleet, non alliance, ships and the sun. Nothing else
NAV is gates and all ships (blue or not)
Scan is belts, stations, and gates, and all ships
Drones is only drones (and only enemy drones I think)

Let me know if I can explain better. If so I may try to make a new video since that one is from a few years ago.

      • I noticed in your drake video that your color backgrounds on your overview for your attackers where different colors... the first fight the caracle was blue, the second ship was orange, and the myrmidon that came in was red. Why is that?

        • The reason is because of the overview settings... The Caracal is Blue-Green because he has Limited Engagement Timer with me and because his Security Status is not negative. The Oracle Orange because he has suspect flag, but not beyond -5. Finally, the Myrmidon is beyond -5 and shootable without penalty. At least I believe that's how I have it setup.

It has to do with the priority in your overview settings, the higher on the list the higher priority. So while the Myrmidon starts Red he later turns Blue-Green.

I probably should update my settings a bit, because they are left over from before Crime Watch changed everything. Basically Orange, Red, and Blue-Green mean the target is engageable without penalty and blue-green means I can pod him afterwords with no penalty because of Limited Engagement Timer.

I highly suggest you check out the excellent articles about Crime Watch list on the side as "Most Popular Articles."
