Racial Profiles in EVE Online – Traits, Strengths, and Weaknesses

As a new pilot to EVE Online, it can be hard to understand the differences between the races in EVE.

Getting a general understanding of the themes that these races tend to exhibit can help a new pilot understand his opponents and even what direction he may want to go in the game.

A pilot who loves using Drones for example should pick either Gallente or Amarr, while someone who is drawn to Missiles would want to use Caldari.

In a PVP engagement, this can also help you to predict more about how your opponent will fight.

Knowing an Enemies likely Damage Output can tell you if you will tank him easily or if he does the Damage that you have weak resists to.

Knowing an Enemies most likely weakest Resist or Damage Hole can allow you to kill them much quicker.

Keep in mind these are all Gross Generalities and are no right 100% of the time, but as long as they are right 60% or more of the time, it is valuable information.

  • I don't remember where I saw you say it. But I want to confirm that you said just using approach and orbit is effective. I have seen people try to teach you to spiral in towards your target and another video on some other kind of manual piloting, but I believe you said you haven't found that to be advantageous or beneficial or worth doing, is that correct?

    Thank you.

    • Like everything in EVE, it's very situationally dependent. There are times when manually spiraling in is very important, but beyond that manual piloting is often unnecessary. When deciding the direction to fly during a fight it is sometimes helpful to manually double click and choose the direction that is safest or most likely to get you a kill. But that's not very complex. Just avoid the blob when moving away OR move your self to the side of the blob that is most advantageous.

For the majority of your PVP you just need to Approach, Orbit, or Keep At. Those cover most your situations. But knowing how to double click and move in a desired direction is valuable. You just don't need to do it very often.

People who double click constantly to manually orbit are often wasting valuable concentration on something that makes little difference.
